You may be trying to rebuild your life from ashes. Yearning to rise again but feeling burned by the flames of your past. At times, you may feel as raw as an exposed nerve, while other times your world feels gray, flat, and numb. Sleep may be elusive or torturous, and you may feel paralyzed by shame, fear, and self-doubt. Your body and mind might feel foreign. You may wonder if it's somehow all your fault. In other words, life might feel like a bit of a dumpster fire.
The aftermath of trauma can be immediate, delayed, and everything in between. It can even take time to acknowledge that the events were traumatic! Whether you develop post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, anxiety, insomnia, disruptions in your personal relationships, continual attempts to numb yourself, or other difficulties managing your daily life, most people benefit from support in making sense of their experiences and how their worldviews have shifted.
I have specific experience working with individuals who have experienced single-incident traumas, combat/military trauma, religious trauma, identity concerns, and significant life transitions, and I particularly enjoy working with female identified individuals and members of the LGBTQIA+ community. I am continually inspired as my patients work towards posttraumatic growth, and build a life they genuinely look forward to. Together, we will regularly check-in on the real-life changes you are hoping to see - within the context of your life and what is most important to you!
We cannot erase the past. But even with the pain, there is hope. It is possible to reclaim your life and your sense of self, and to more comfortably and compassionately inhabit your body and mind. Like a phoenix, you can rise again.
